All posts by Matt DeVore

This is a public display of the photography of Matt DeVore, an amateur photographer tinkering in the Wooster and Ashland, Ohio area. I label my photography, Visions of Rapture. Why the name "Visions of Rapture?" I had been sharing my photos on my personal Facebook profile. A lot of people were praising my work and suggesting I do more with it. I thought it would be worthwhile to set up Facebook page as a more public space. I had to think of a name and Visions of Rapture came to me pretty quickly. Literally, Visions refers to the things seen in the photographs and Rapture (joy or happiness) is what I and others feel when we see them. But if you’re familiar with hymns then you’ll recognize that I lifted the title from the lyrics of Blessed Assurance by Fanny J. Crosby. While this ongoing collection of photos is not intended as a gospel sermon, I do believe that our Creator endows us with the ability to appreciate beauty and much of what I enjoy photographing is His handiwork. -Matt DeVore

Glowing Eye

I saw this flower at the grocery store and snapped it with my iPhone. Then I made it look like it was from another time or something.

Status Update From Visions of Rapture

A year or so ago, I posted about how I use the free open-source Gimp to edit my photos rather than Photoshop. An update is in order. For the past several months, I’ve been doing nearly all of my image editing on Apple iOS devices – iPhone and iPad. Images captured with my iPhone are synced automagically to the iPad using iCloud. Images from my other digital cameras are transferred via WiFi using my ezShare WiFi SD card (similar to EyeFi). I typically start editing using the free Google Snapseed app. Sometimes that’s all I use. When I need a clone tool, I use the one in Filterstorm. I think it was about $4. I really like Alt Photo (free). It gives images a nice vintage look. There are quite a few others I dabble in, but I want to stop writing now. Have a super day and stay safe and warm. Thanks for enjoying my photos. Posted on: January 26, 2014 at 07:14PM
